More Marines, More Lies, More Fire
Trump says this is not a ground war. The ships say otherwise.
By Dr. John Petrone
They always do this in stages.
First, it is limited.
Then, it is necessary.
Then, it is temporary.
Then, more ships move.
More Marines deploy.
More money is demanded.
More bodies come home.
And the same politicians who lied at the start look straight into the camera and tell the American people this is still under control.
As of March 20, 2026, the war with Iran has reached the three week mark, and now more U.S. Marines are heading into the Middle East. The USS Boxer group is on the way carrying thousands of Marines from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, on top of the USS Tripoli group already moving in from Japan with another large Marine force. That is not de escalation. That is not caution. That is not peacekeeping.
That is escalation in plain English.
And Donald Trump, in typical fashion, is trying to play both sides of the lie. He says he is not putting troops anywhere, then immediately adds that if he were, he would not tell you. That is not leadership. That is the language of a reckless man trying to preserve deniability while the machinery of war keeps grinding forward.
This Is Not Containment
Let’s stop pretending this is some narrow, controlled operation.
This war began on February 28. Now, three weeks later, the United States is surging more Marines and sailors into the region, troop levels are swelling past 50,000, the Strait of Hormuz remains under severe strain, and the Pentagon is already asking for more than $200 billion more to fund the war and what comes after it.
That is not a short mission.
That is not a clean mission.
That is not a mission with a visible exit.
That is the opening architecture of another American quagmire, built on arrogance, impulse, and the delusion that military force can somehow control the political, religious, economic, and regional chaos that follows when you light a match in the Persian Gulf.
The Marine Deployments Are the Tell
Let me be very clear about something.
This is not a criticism of the Marines.
The Marines will do what they have always done. They will go where they are ordered. They will carry out dangerous missions with discipline, courage, and professionalism. They will do the hard work while the suits in Washington spin, posture, and dodge responsibility.
That is exactly why this should enrage every decent American.
When amphibious ready groups start stacking into theater, when Marine Expeditionary Units are being positioned within reach of one of the most volatile regions on earth, you do not have to be a Pentagon planner to understand what that means. It means options are being built. It means contingency plans are expanding. It means the White House wants the capacity to move fast if this gets even worse, and it can get much worse.
You do not move this kind of force because everything is calming down.
You move it because you believe a larger fight may be coming.
The Energy Fuse Is Already Burning
And here is where the stupidity becomes historic.
This war is no longer confined to missile sites, command nodes, or military symbolism. It has now hit the energy spine of the region.
After the attack on Iran’s South Pars gas field, a site of enormous strategic importance that is shared with Qatar, Iran retaliated by striking energy infrastructure across Gulf states. Fires, shutdowns, disrupted production, damaged refineries, LNG chaos, maritime insecurity, soaring prices. This is what happens when fools play war games near the beating heart of the global energy system.
South Pars is not just another target on a map. It is part of the largest gas field on earth. It is central to Iran’s domestic energy supply, and because it is shared with Qatar, any major damage or prolonged instability there does not stay local. It radiates outward, into markets, into supply chains, into household bills, into inflation, into political instability far beyond the Middle East.
So while Trump and Netanyahu posture and contradict each other in public, the real world keeps sending the bill.
Higher oil.
Higher gas.
Higher shipping costs.
Higher inflation.
More global instability.
And for what?
A coherent strategy?
A clearly defined end state?
An honest explanation to the American people?
No. None of that.
The Political Lie Is Collapsing
The American people are not stupid, even if many in Washington act like they are.
Most Americans already believe Trump is moving toward a larger ground war, and only a tiny sliver of the country actually supports that idea. That gap matters. It means the public can see what this administration is trying to hide. They understand that when presidents talk tough, deny obvious realities, and keep layering in forces, the truth is usually worse than the press release.
This is the same old pattern of executive branch deception dressed up in newer slogans and uglier rhetoric.
No honest leader would be adding Marines, begging Congress for an enormous war package, floating expanded operational options, and still pretending this is all somehow limited and contained.
No honest leader would risk setting the Gulf on fire while refusing to level with the public about cost, duration, risk, or consequences.
No honest leader would treat war like a branding exercise.
What This Means Now
It means the danger is no longer theoretical.
It means American service members are being positioned closer to a widening regional conflict whose boundaries are already slipping.
It means Gulf states are getting hit.
It means energy infrastructure is now in the crosshairs.
It means the economic blowback is already underway.
It means the administration either has no serious endgame, or has one it does not want to admit.
Neither possibility is acceptable.
And Congress needs to stop acting like a decorative institution. If this country is sliding toward a larger war, then lawmakers need to do their jobs. Hearings. Votes. Public testimony. Real accountability. No blank checks. No patriotic theater. No hiding behind slogans while troops and taxpayers absorb the consequences.
This is the moment to say it plainly.
You do not send more Marines into a war zone while claiming nothing bigger is taking shape.
You do not ask for $200 billion more while pretending the scope is limited.
You do not play roulette with the Gulf, the global economy, and American lives and call it peace.
That is not strength.
That is recklessness wrapped in a flag.
The American people should be furious.
Not at the Marines.
Not at the troops.
At the politicians and power brokers who keep using them as instruments of denial, escalation, and political vanity.
We have seen this script before. We know how it ends when the lies go unchecked early.
Raise your voice now, before the body count rises, before the price spikes deepen, before temporary becomes permanent, and before another generation of Americans is told to bleed for a war sold in bad faith.
This is how democracies lose themselves, one euphemism at a time.

Trump pushes on with no plan.
A very frightening post from an expert voice. We must stop the madness NOW.
