The mask is fully off. Donald J. Trump, weakened on the world stage, humiliated at the United Nations, mocked by late-night comedy’s return, and rocked by the Arizona election of Democrat Adelita Grijalva—whose signature will force a House vote on the full release of the Epstein files—is thrashing like a cornered autocrat. And in his desperation, he is reaching for the levers of absolute power.
Mass Firings as a Tool of Submission
Trump’s budget enforcer Russell Vought has threatened to fire—not furlough—federal employees if Congress refuses to pass the GOP’s continuing resolution. This isn’t fiscal policy. It’s a purge. It’s about terrorizing public servants into obedience and gutting the professional class that sustains democracy. A hollowed-out government serves only one master.
Tariffs: Chaos Writ Large
Trump announced sweeping import tariffs to take effect October 1: 100 percent on pharmaceuticals, 50 percent on cabinets, 30 percent on furniture, and 25 percent on trucks. He claims “national security” justification. In reality, these tariffs will jack up drug costs, choke hospital supply chains, punish working families, and ignite global retaliation. This is not policy—it is economic sabotage to consolidate power through crisis.
Weaponizing Data Against Voters
The Department of Justice has filed lawsuits against multiple states, demanding full voter rolls and identifying information. The administration wants names, addresses, even Social Security data. Officials across party lines are warning this is a naked attempt to strip states of election control and build a national apparatus of surveillance and intimidation. This is voter suppression disguised as law.
Smearing Veterans to Win Elections
The National Archives “accidentally” leaked unredacted military records of Representative Mikie Sherrill, a veteran with an unblemished career, to her opponent in a tight governor’s race. This was no accident. It was intimidation, weaponizing patriotism itself. If a decorated Navy veteran can be targeted, then no service member’s record is safe from political weaponization.
The DOJ as Trump’s Hit Squad
The Department of Justice has indicted former FBI director James Comey, reviving charges that had already been deemed meritless. A career prosecutor who refused to bring the case was fired and replaced with a Trump loyalist. The DOJ is no longer the people’s lawyer—it is Trump’s personal hit squad. Comey’s words ring true: fear is the tyrant’s tool. Engagement is ours.
The Military Under Siege
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered 800 of the nation’s top generals and admirals to Quantico in person. This sudden, global recall is not routine. It is a show of force, a tightening of control, and a signal to allies and adversaries alike that the Pentagon itself is being bent under the president’s thumb.
Turning Protest Into Terror
Trump has signed a sweeping memorandum branding activist groups and nonprofits as part of a so-called “terror network.” The memo authorizes guilt by association, pretrial interrogation, and surveillance of organizations that defend voting rights, human rights, and free speech. This is not about safety. It is about criminalizing dissent. It is the authoritarian reflex made law: silence your critics by naming them enemies of the state.
The Pattern Could Not Be Clearer
Every move follows the dictator’s playbook. Create a false emergency. Label opponents as traitors. Weaponize the law. Undermine the military chain of command. Break the economy to consolidate power. Strip citizens of their rights through fear. This is not governance. It is regime survival by scorched earth.
How We Fight Back
We fight back by refusing to be paralyzed. Fear is what authoritarians count on. They want you silent, hopeless, and convinced nothing can be done. Here’s what you can do right now:
Flood Congress with calls and letters. Make your representatives and senators feel the heat every single day. Demand oversight hearings. Demand investigations. Demand they protect civil service protections and defend state control of elections. Staffers log every call—volume matters.
Defend federal workers and veterans. When you hear threats against career public servants, speak up. Share their stories. Support unions and organizations that shield whistleblowers. Remind people that these are our neighbors, not the enemy.
Fight voter suppression with voter registration. Help register new voters in your community. Volunteer with local election protection groups. Ensure your own registration is current. Encourage friends and family to check theirs. The best counter to voter intimidation is overwhelming turnout.
Support independent journalism. Subscribe to outlets that investigate corruption. Share factual reporting widely. Authoritarian regimes thrive when truth is drowned out. Become a multiplier of facts.
Stand with civic organizations. The administration has branded them as “terror networks.” That tells you how powerful they really are. Support groups defending human rights, immigrant protections, reproductive freedoms, and voting rights. Donate, volunteer, amplify.
Use local power. Authoritarians want you to believe Washington is the only battleground. It’s not. School boards, city councils, statehouses—these are where the foundations of democracy are defended. Run for something. Show up at meetings. Refuse to cede the ground.
Forge community resilience. Build networks of trust with neighbors, churches, veterans groups, civic clubs. Autocrats thrive when people feel isolated. We are strongest when connected.
Honor the oath. If you are an active-duty service member, a National Guard soldier, a reservist, a federal agent, or any public servant who swore to uphold the Constitution, remember this: your oath is to the United States Constitution, not to any single man. If you are ever given an unlawful or unconstitutional order, you are bound to reject it. The duty is clear: defend America from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The Republic may depend on those moments of courage.
Vote like your life depends on it. Because it does. Every election, every ballot measure, every local contest matters. Do not wait for 2026 or 2028. Authoritarianism grows in the gaps of citizen apathy. Close the gap.
Trump is gambling on fear. We must gamble on courage. This is not a moment to retreat into silence or despair. It is a moment to act, to fight, and to prove that the American people will not be ruled by fear.
Trump is playing his final hand: control or collapse. Our response will decide whether liberty survives this storm.
Effective civil disobedience and successful activism require some degree of inconvenience and sacrifice. Strikes and Blackout come with hardship and sacrifices. People will lose jobs and businesses may close. At this point, no one is asking people to walk miles to work every day for a year, endure personal violence or sacrifice their lives like they did during the first Civil Rights Movement.
Our resistance efforts now are minor in comparison. The earlier we start resisting the easier it will be if we can get enough people to unite now. The longer we wait the greater the sacrifices will be. For the most part mature adults our the ones building and supporting the resistance. It seems like young Americans will need to directly feel the pain of the tRump's massive destructive cuts and illegal executive orders. This tRump nightmare could have been over already if we had united when he first revealed his authoritarian plans. Unfortunately, people in this country don't want to be temporarily inconvenienced in any way and they definitely don't want to make the simplest of sacrifices like stop unnecessary shopping, avoiding traveling, limiting their entertainment! Right now we have no where near the numbers of people consistently resisting that we need to save our democracy. The tRump is winning the war against our democracy and has begun the initial stages of genocide in America. We have to decide if it is it better to sacrifice a few small businesses or do we allow the tRump to privatizing education, health care and insurance, making it available to only the wealthy. Can you afford to pay for private schools, nursing homes and insurance? Do we prefer to fight for our democracy or allow the tRump to continue to strip FEMA funds for communities that mother nature destroys, accurate weather alerts and food safety inspections?
Would you prefer to have low wages forever, no civil rights, no truthful media, no right to choose what movies, TV shows or music we watch or listen to?
Do we continue to let the tRump regime, steal our medications, food services for our veterans, disabled, children and the elderly. If we don’t resist more people will their jobs, homes, medical care, freedom and many more people will die from neglect while the tRump gives much more money to his billionaire oligarch friends?
We need to stop spending money unnecessarily. We need to support small businesses. Imagine if everyone stopped supporting the oligarchs owned national chain businesses and started shopping locally owned small businesses and restaurants instead. That's how we build our local economy.
IF GRANNIES CAN BE HEROES THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS STOP SHOPPING!
Our wise Government leaders are telling us that we the people need to be the ones to organize the Anti-tRump Resistance. The protests, the boycotts, the marches, the strikes, the blackouts are all being organized by true heroic everyday citizens! The last protest I attended was planned by a group of Grandmas!
One Million Rising (on YouTube) is a great free resource to train organizers how to build a movement. The organizers can use that free education to build whatever kind of resistance they want.
The rallies are wonderful but not as effective as Strikes and Blackouts. All of these only work if people are willing to commit to making some sacrifices. Unfortunately, most Americans don't seem to give a damn. It's easy to tell which ones are committed to saving our democracy and which aren't by asking how many new seldom wore clothes/shoes are in their closets, how many beauty products are cluttering their bathrooms, how much money are they spending on unnecessary travel, entertainment and socializing (theaters, streaming services, bars, sport events, concerts, eating out). If we aren't willing to make these small temporary sacrifices now, we may soon have nothing left to fight for.
Führer tRump has begun the beginning stages of genocide in the USA. People are dieing because of him, his ICE Gestapo and his Administration from hell. Unless you want your children and grandchildren to grow up in this hate filled Un-United nation we all must rise, unite and support the resistance in every way possible. Stand Up America - Do Something - Stop Spending Money!
